I am using Apple health to track my steps a day.
I can see the steps in my fitness pal main menu .

Is there a threshold where they will turn into calories? Eg after 2000 steps or something .

I don't see any calories coming back , but if I used an app like runtastic it would add them .

Also , does it take into account normal steps that you would do like walking around house etc , it would feel like cheating if it gave me all I have walked back as calories.

That's pretty much how it works. It's not how many steps, it adds to your calorie goal once you have been more active than expected. MFP thinks you'll burn so many, and Apple Health tells MFP how many it thinks you'll burn based off of activity. Once you've been more active than MFP thought, you'll earn more. If you enable negative calorie adjustments, you'll see how less active days earn you negative calories.

Example: At my height/weight/sedentary, MFP expects I will burn 2004 calories in a day.
Yesterday, my heart rate monitor gave me 440 from exercise, making MFP think I would burn 2444.
However, my Garmin Vivofit told MFP that through my activity throughout the day, I actually burned 2456. Not a big difference, but that made MFP give me 12 more calories I could have eaten. Does that make sense at all?

Thanks a lot for help much appreciated.
    One more question ,
If I then also use runtastic would it double up on the calories burned ?

Not 100% sure on that one. I know if i log a WALK with Garmin Connect it will not give we Calories for the Walk and the Steps. Just steps. If i log a RUN with Garmin Connect it will give me calories burned for the run.

Thanks for this , I'm gonna send MFP a message to see what happens with multiple apps syncing
