Lose weight on Paleo?

What's up?

I'm currently on a whole30 - mostly. I'm not doing it 100%, in fact - I had a small mac and cheese at panera today and it didn't make me feel like utter crap like I thought it would, and I don't feel particularly guilty - but whatever. I did notice that I was hungry like five hours later for almost double the calories I would normally eat in a meal so that sucked.

I still think I'm going to stick with Paleo because it's the best eating plan I've ever been on and I don't have to worry about calories and starving myself like I've done in the past. I'm just naturally satiated with a smaller amount of good food, veggies and protein and some starches. I gotta say, I dig it.

Anyway, I've only lost 7 pounds so far in about 3 weeks - which SOUNDS great, but I know at least half of that is water weight and I lost it within the first week and a half and nothing since. I tracked my calories for a while and they're pretty low - under 1500 every day so calories are not the problem. Googling doesn't help, always feels better when i get advice from "real" people.

The internet has conflicting answers - worry about calories, don't worry about calories, amp up exercise or reduce exercise, amp up the fat in your diet or the calories, I don't know what to believe!

So I am amping up exercise since I kind of have fallen off the wagon on that a little bit.

I guess I'm just looking for some confirmation.

Idk guys, talk to me.

It's really about the calories unless you have a medical condition. Do you weigh everything? If you're not weighing your food or logging 100% accurate then that's the best place to start.

CICO is how you lose weight, Paleo or not. Increased exercise may help you lose, but your best bet is to continue and tighten up your logging. This may include making sure every single bite/sip you take is accounted for, weighing all foods and measuring all liquids, double checking that the entries you choose are accurate, and utilizing the recipe builder instead of homemade or generic database entries.

I think I'm logging very accurately, but I am not going to go whole hog on the 100% knit picky logging. When I was in high school I logged obsessively and developed an eating disorder, so I'm very consciously not obsessively counting, while at the same time being very conscious about my food choices.
