Weight Gain After the Weekend

I splurged on my diet this weekend and now the scale says I've gained 12 lbs in 3 days! I find that hard to believe. I ate a little more than I should but I highly doubt I've eaten 12 lbs extra worth of calories over the weekend. I'm very upset. Has anyone else experienced such a high gain within a few days?

Water retention most likely. It should go away.

12 pounds would equal about 42,000 extra calories (above your normal TDEE). Hard to believe even the guys in the hot dog eating contests last weekend ate 42,000 extra calories. Chances are its a combination of a few extra calories and a bunch of extra sodium which is causing you to retain water. If you go back to your "normal" diet for a few days you should see the scale bounce back down again. No worries!3

I think it's water retention as well. It's like my body has been craving water. Thank you for your help!0 -

Overnight weight gain can be caused by anything from water retention, hormonal change (I can gain up to 13 lbs on the scale when I'm PMSing) to just needing to have a good session on the throne lol !!

Ugh, I definitely ignore the scale around that time of the month lol. My weight gain is normally around 10 lbs during that time. Thanks for the reassurance!0
