i've just started losing weight, but i'm curious if i need to eventually change my calories once i've lost a significant amount of weight and how i go about doing that on MFP? i have about 20lbs to lose and i'm currently only eating 1290 calories. will MFP automatically adjust my calories when i've lost weight or will i need to somehow do this myself?

MFP will adjust your calories, but if you've got yourself set to lose 2lbs a week you might want to drop that to 1lb or even .5lbs as you get closer to your goal weight. Otherwise the amount of calories you will get will be painful and you will be hungry0

you will need to switch from a goal of losing to 'maintenance'.0

thanks! i wasn't sure if i would need to manually do it. i've used MFP multiple times, but never enough to actually begin to lose weight. i am currently sent to lose 1lb a week!0

If you're using MFP's reccommendation and not a custom one, it should prompt you to update your goals every 10 lbs.0

It always auto adjusted every 10 pounds for me. I self adjust every 5 to be sure, so I am not sure if it still has been auto adjusting.0
