I Am Stuck!

I need to lose 100 lbs. and I am simply stuck....getting started. It seems that if I don't have a plan to follow, I don't feel as though I'm doing anything. I've tried Weight Watchers with very limited success. We are going on vacation in October and I really wanted to have some weight off so it wasn't such a struggle for me walking because I have knee issues as well. I have now wasted a year and October is right around the corner. My objective is to simply take some pressure off my knees and to be and feel healthier. I feel overwhelmed with many things and I'm not sure how to get unstuck.

The key to loose weight is to eat at a calorie deficit.
How many calories are you eating now?, how are your macros?
    Are you exercising?

Weight Watcher's did not work for me and I quit last November. MFP has worked for me and,I have lost 25 pounds since April simplyby logging everything I eat, eating at a deficit, and a lot of walking.

I find MFP works much better for me than WW or other programs. I have diligently weighed and logged my daily menus and watch my macros. I also got a Fitbit and make sure I get my steps in every day. At this point, my exercise is walking. I will add cardio a little later in my journey. Just get started, don't beat yourself up and celebrate your small victories!! It won't be fast, but it will last if you just stick with it!!

What you might want to do to get started is to simply log everything that you eat. You dont have to restrict anything. Just get a feel for how you spend most of your calories and look for ways you can cut down those areas in particular. Whether you tend to have a huge dinner, or lots of little snacks, the information will help you find a starting point.
Best of luck getting your weight loss rolling. The first few days are always the hardest. It will get better from here :)

When I started here I could not walk more than 2 minutes at a time. I made small changes at first but ate what I liked and stayed close to my calorie goal for the day. Then I found I have high triglycerides and started lowering my carbs. I now can walk for 60 minutes with one brief rest(blood clot in leg artery) and have lowered my triglycerides by 47 points. You can do this if you keep it simple! Good luck!

The logging was a huge eye opener for me. I was appalled at what I was taking in every day & how empty most of the calories were. I used to drink a lot of sugared soda. Over the years I gradually cut down. Every Lent I'd give up the soda & suffer through the caffeine headache. Now I try to make different choices. I reach for something filling but lower in calories & higher in nutrition -- I eat a yogurt, nibble some fruit, have a granola bar & I just bought a bag of carrots -- rather than cookies, candies & sugar.

Do the logging bit 1st before you change anything. What you see ought to scare you enough to implement change. Try the replacements first. That will automatically cut some calories. At the very least park at the far end of the parking lot so you have to walk & take the stairs when you can.
