Think of the word “diet”, and what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Visions of joyless eating, lots of lettuce, bored taste buds, more lettuce, meals that would starve a mouse, mounds of food labeled “Off Limits” and locked away, never to be tasted again. Oh, and lettuce. Deprivation diets and taboo-food diets send the wrong message. Your body is not an enemy that needs to be beaten and starved into submission. Get your body and mind to work for you, and all your goals (including weight loss) will be a lot easier. Food was created for a reason. Each food has specific benefits and potential drawbacks. The key is balance. Too much of anything can hurt. But not enough of everything can hurt even more.

Very well put Mollie! I agree 100 percent. While I do get frustrated with myself when I eat something I feel I shouldn't I did give myself permission when I started this journey to have a treat once in a while. Nothing is off limits I just need to have the goodies in moderation. If I think I will never have my favorite foods ever again all I am doint is setting myself up for failure. I have to tell you I am eating the best food I have ever eaten in my life. I don't mean just healthy I mean amazingly delicious food because we are using the Cooking light magazines and cook books. I owe ALL of my success to COOKING LIGHT!! Every recipe has all the calories, carbs, fats, sodium and more all broken down for you! Could not be any easier!!

I suggest everyone do themselves a HUGE favor and give it a try.

Thanks Mollie for another great post and it is so true, if think diet i think yucky food and i can't do it and my mind starts to play tricks on me until i am eating out of control. By making healthier choices and portion control i feel much better and WANT to eat the veggies and fruits etc...:flowerforyou:
