I am a hairstylist who works 8 hrs a day. Should I put my activity level under lightly active or active? I also have two young kids the only time I sit is during dinner, and on the drive to and from work. If i keep my phone in my pocket all day at the end of my shift on average I have walked 2-3 miles( just to give an idea of how much I move around at work)

    I set mine at active
On my shift (chef) 8 hours, I record 20000 to 22000 per day about 7 to 8 miles what is so sad about that is, I walk in the same small space. haha . I do think that 2 to 3 miles is far more active than you think, also I'm positive that like me at work your legs are not the only thing in motion, your arms are moving your bending and a couple of kids, you, in my opinion are far more active than you think. Make it active if seems to much or to little there's the challenge. You can up your activity or slow it down. Annie

2-3 miles isn't that much (for me 3 miles is about 7000 steps), so I would says start with lightly active and adjust based on your loss over the next month.

@BritannieWilliams1979 haha wow 7-8 miles that's crazy. Yes we are using are arms a lot for blow dries and combing the hair and we are constantly walking in a small space haha. I am actually going to try and keep my phone in my pocket the whole shift. Idk why I said if I keep my phone in my pocket my whole day. Because it never stays in my pocket all day because there is no time for using it so it mostly stays in my purse 2-3 miles is probably in my pocket is prop ably half of my day. I am going to keep it in my pocket all day just to see what I so walk all day. Bet it won't be 7-8 lol but when I do lightly active it drops me down to 1200 and for working out 6 days a week I don't think that would be enough fuel lol
