You should be losing on that deficit. Nonetheless, 1000 calories isn't recommended on MFP. They set 1200 as a minimum.0 -
You should be losing weight eating that low. Do you use a food scale to weigh everything?0
-
If you are actually eating that little, you are likely eating an unhealthy amount of food and should reassess what you are doing.1
-
You are eating more than you think you are.3

There's a disconnect somewhere. Either A. You have some medical problem severely lowering your BMR and you should see a doctor, or B. (far more likely) your calorie counting is off. You could be measuring your food wrong, you could be leaving off some foods that are surprisingly high calorie, or you could be overestimating calories burned during exercise.

Don't worry OP you aren't eating less than 1000 calories a day. Going low fat and low carb is a bad idea, I think you have the wrong idea about weight loss.

So high protein? Be careful with that, it can harm your kidneys. Dietary fat is a good thing!
How do you know how many calories you're consuming? A digital kitchen scale is your best bet.
Could you give us more information about yourself? Height, weight, age, sex, activity level? I suspect you could be eating more if you iron out some wrinkles in your current way of eating.1 -
You've been here for 3 weeks. 1) it takes time and patience, 2) you are miscalculation somewhere, 3) why would you aim for 1000 cal? Are you concerned about your health, or just your weight?2

I bet with this severe diet you have also implemented a torturous new workout schedule and you're retaining water for muscle repair. Chill out. It's a marathon, not a sprint.0

Try to find a plan you can stay on long term, and don't give up. Adherence is what works.0

While high protein may be hard for already damaged/diseased kidneys, there is no evidence that it has any negative effects on otherwise healthy kidneys.3 -
1000 is way too low for anyone
If your female your minimum is 1,200
If your male I think it's a minimum of 1,500
Maybe if you ate what your supposed too you'd have more success with weight loss0 -

While I agree that 1000 is too low, eating more is NeVER the answer if someone isn't losing weight. She is underestimating how much she is eating.4 -

That's good to know!1 -

I doubt that she's overestimating enough to gain (for me that would take an accidental 1000 (over the 1000 goal) calorie overage per day)...the fact that she's gone so completely over the top with her diet means she's also probably gone over the top with a brand new exercise program... It's probably water.
But it's still not enough food. You're going to burn out.0 -

Meaning the OP should weigh their food and measure their liquids, but don't eat less than whatever's the lowest amount for them cos 1000 is far too low for anyone
Chances are, they are eating a hell of a lot more than that without realising
Wasn't meant to come across as "eat more to get thin"1 -

You'd be surprised....2 -
Hello. There is not a lot of information in your post so I'll not offer advice in addition to what's be given here. But I will tell you this. Every day, several times a day, I read a post written by a person who cannot lose weight AND is eating too few calories. Too few is below 1,200 for a woman. Period. If you drop below 1,000, MFP will give you a much-needed warning. I think that there is a connection between eating too little, exercise too much, and stressing too much.
I know that "starvation mode" is considered a myth here. I know that CICO is the only proven way to lose weight, esp. long term, but I cannot believe that every poster is grossly underestimating her calories and until I know more about you, I will not make that assumption.
There are other things that DO influence weight loss--sleep patterns, stress, menstruation. If you are stressing your body and spirit...punishing your body to force it to lose weight, it's no wonder that you aren't having the success you want. I tried whipping my body into shape for years and I never had long term success.
You do not need to starve to lose weight. You do not need to spend hours every day working out to lose weight. Unless your circumstance is extraordinary, MFP will work for you just as it has worked for me and so many others.
And I will say once again what I've said to many folks here--you must be kind to yourself and that means be kind and patient with your body, your hunger. If you keep punishing yourself you will only be more unhappy.5 -

True. Many times on these boards when someone is claiming to eat so low calorie it's not always them underestimating their calories. It's them claiming they only eat 1000, but they don't count the three days per week they binge eat because they restricted too much in the first place. So their 1000 is closer to 1300 and then their binges cancel out the deficit completely. Outliers will be holding water weight and she very well maybe be an outier based on whatever her stats are. Also, someone who is inclined to restrict to 1000 calories per day will consider the slightest of fluctuations on the scale as a "gain".godlikepoetyes wrote: »There are other things that DO influence weight loss--sleep patterns, stress, menstruation.
