I go to the gym about 2-3 days a week and I will jog 2-3 days a week..I feel like my progress is getting better but only very slowly...

so if I am using the cardio machines (a stair thing and the elliptical to be in particular) at the gym 3 days a week how do I know if Im working hard enough on the machines especially if the calories lost arent reliable and the heart rate monitors arent reliable either?

I FEEL like I am doing well but I never get that sore muscle feeling the next day. I try to keep my heart rate up, hard enough to not be able to have a conversation while working out..but idk if Im doing it right still haha

By progressing ...going faster, longer each week, better recovery time

Do intervals, start with 40 seconds on 1:20 off, and work your way up over time to where you are able to do minute on minute off intervals. This could take you a couple months of conditioning work.

Go as hard as you can for 40 seconds, back off for a 1:20, repeat until your time is up.

Guaranteed you will not get off that machine wondering if you have worked hard enough.

Change up ur machines and after while when u work out the soreness goes away and dosnt really come back if ur routine dosnt change try a different style of training like DvIDwnInGa suggested :)
