negative calorie adjustments

I'm confused. my trainer wants me to set my calorie goal for the day at 1500. When I put my weight into MFP and enter a goal of 1 pound loss a week, it give me a calorie total of 1900ish. Does that mean that according to MFP if I follow the 1900 I should lose 1 pound a week or do I have to subtract the 500 at day and set it manually at 1400 to lose the pound.
And don't even get me started on the negative calorie adjustments on my Garmin VIVO active. 30 minutes of cardio + 6500 steps and I'm -338 for the day? the other day I walked 10500 steps only, with no cardio and had +25. What gives?

I posted about the Garmin adjustments, I think it's wonky right now but it could also be your activity setting, what did you choose when you set it up?
If you have chosen the right activity level outside of purposeful exercise, then the MFP number has your deficit built in, you can eat the 1900. Activity level is day to day normal stuff excluding exercise, you log exercise separately.0
