Help w/nutrition for "fat loss" with "performance"

I am having a hard time balancing my nutritional needs for fat loss vs performance. Any expert advice?? I lost 40 pounds following a sound and balanced macro diet at a certain calorie deficit. But now that I'm at the "get leaner" stage I find myself doubting what to do. I do mostly high intensity interval workouts- weights and running - but no longer than 30 minutes. Do I up my calories intake on those days. Is carb cycling - low carb ok to do day before a high intensity workout. do I HAVE to eat a small fast acting carb snack - banana - before my morning workouts to make sure I have the glycogen fuel?? This is hard for me to do - I hate eating first thing and really don't have the time before work. Anyone have any wisdom and experience with this ??
