WODs, kinda, sorta

I'm thinking of a season of WOD-ish variety. I've always done programs with consistency built in. I see that some cross-fiters enjoy success but I have no interest in doing technical Olympic lifts while fatigued (not trying to trash cross-fit).

My thought was a collection of workouts that I could cycle through which would allow me to measure if I'm progressing. I'm not a fan of measuring success by how much I puke or how sore I am the next day

How does the WOD concept work? Is it endless variety of do workouts repeat at some interval so you can monitor progress?

This is my take: You could choose four push/pull exercises and do 4x10 for time to start. Try to beat your time or get more reps in that same time. It can become mainly endurance if you don't increase resistance. So I might add weight to all reps or create descending or ascending sets with heavy, medium and light weights.

A "WOD" is workout of the day. It is whatever workout the trainer has decided to put together to torture you for the day. Well, maybe not torture. :)

If you are looking for things to do a good resource would be a crossfit forum.

I have never done crossfit, I do however workout at a gym that has a crossfit attached to it. They have a giant board they the write down the "WOD" of the day.

You can design your own however you want.

    1. Do 10 push ups
    2. Do 10 Jumping jacks
    3. Do 10 sit ups
    4. Do 10 pull ups
    5. Do 10 burpees
    6. etc, etc, etc.

Metcons are another thing to look into, as is Tabata style of training.

Good luck, have fun with it.
