What's the difference? I know it's a dumb question. I'm fairly new to weights.

Strength training is exactly what it sounds like; lifting in a fashion that improves your level of strength or in other words, how much you can lift. Strength training will typically revolve around compound movements (ie deadlift, squat, bench press) low reps and sets with the specific goal of trying to lift more weight than you did on your last trip to the gym. It takes a lot of focus and dedication to correct form.
Circuit training is a general term used when your workout revolves around "stations". Each station is a different exercise that you perform for a predetermined amount of time or reps until you rotate to the next, typically with little to no rest in between. Many people favor these types of workouts because it allows you to get a large amount of work done in a short period of time. Circuit work outs can be full body workouts, or focused more on cardio, focused on portions of the body or even a mix of all of the above.
Hope this helps. Happy training!0 -
