Losing Weight due to health reasons -DVT

I have dieted on and off since my teens but recently have had quite the wake up call. Im 34yrs old and three weeks ago i got a DVT (blood clot) in my leg. I was lucky as it was picked up early however my Doc can find no real reason as to why this occured. All tests etc came back fine and i haven't recently travelled or had any of the usual contributing factors and am on medication for 6mths. However after that i need to ensure i have taken enough healthy steps on my life to minimise future risk. Such as losing weight and being more active. Its a strong motivation but navigating healthy choices can be difficult and confusing but MFP helps a lot with that. Has anyone else experienced a DVT and can offer any advice?
