juicer/slowjuicer???

Anybody have any experience with these things? I'm on maintenance now and can allow myself more fruits; but I notice that if I just have one apple, I'll have 3 more shortly afterwards... and, of course, there's not much protein in fruits and veggies; so I was thinking of smoothies and juices with added protein powder, but I'm mildly lactose intolerant so shakes are kinda out... Which leaves juices.
Anyone have experience with juicers or slowjuicers? Is a slowjuicer really that much better than a regular one to make up for the price difference? are they worth it or do they just end up gathering dust in the cupboard or hogging coutnerspace in the kitchen? How about adding protein powder - if it's a flavourless one, that *should* work right?
