Calories Burned by Steps Taken

Does myfitnesspal account for the number of calories burned for the number of steps taken in a day. For example if my fitbit says I burned a certain number of calories should I add those in as calories burned through exercise?

You can sync your fitbit with MFP.

Sync your MFP and Fitbit accounts.

Then when your Fitbit calorie burn goes past what MFP thought you would burn for your selected activity level, you will see a positive adjusment.

There is a little glitch right now that is hitting some users though. Our intake is transferring to Fitbit from MFP and Fitbit is sending all the data to MFP, but no steps are showing in the app and no adjustment is being given. It's a glitch that MFP is looking into.

I have a Garmin Vivofit that automatically syncs with MFP. However I did notice that what the vivofit says as calories burn do not match what carries over. But what carries over is lower, so at least my calories aren't overestimated!

That's because it takes what Garmin said you burned and subtracts from it what MFP thought you would burn.

    Example:
    My tracker estimates 2300
MFP estimates 1800 at lightly active with a goal of 1300 for 1 lb per week loss
500 calories get added to make up the difference between the burns which puts me at eating 1800 while still having a 500 calorie deficit.
