Best Way to track Exercise....

Currently my Settings are that I am Lightly Active and I log in my exercise.

I am thinking if I should put the Setting to Sedentary and then log everything that I do. IE: Gardening, etc.

I am retired..... funny thing though, I am more active during the day now than I was when I was working. I am constantly doing something now and rarely sit during the day.

Just wondering what I should put the Setting to.

Thanks for the help.

I don't have any evidence or science behind what I'm about to say, but I'll give you my opinion and reasoning. I think you should stick with lightly active and log your exercise. I think it'll be a more accurate level of your fitness because there are so many variables involved with logging non-exercise activities (gardening, etc.) that could distort the calories burned.

If you're logging these non-conventional exercise activities as a way to keep track of how much time you're doing them, that could be of some use. But I don't know if I would necessarily trust the calories burned calculation that MFP states.

Just my $.02. I think it's a good question and it ultimately might involve you experimenting a bit and seeing what you find to be the best way to measure your overall fitness/nutrition lifestyle. Good luck!

I think that I will Keep it as Lightly Active, and then just add the specific exercise periods. That way if I have a day where I dont do anything but the exercise, I will still be on target.
