Added sugar vs. Natural Sugar

I seem to go over my sugar goal every day, due to the fruits/veggies I eat. I was wondering if I should include natural sugar in my sugar goal for the day? If I did not count fruits/veggie I would be way under my sugar goal. Anyone else have this issue?

If you have a medical reason to restrict sugar or your eating plan requires it (like if you were trying to stay in ketosis or such), then natural sugars matter. For the rest of us, it's a lot of personal preference and choosing our priorities. I don't track sugar and don't worry about it as long as the rest of my goals are being met. Others do. It's up to you.

Sugar is sugar is sugar...your body doesn't differentiate. Of course, veg and fruit come with a lot of other nutrition attached...but the sugar is still sugar.

I go over sugar quite a bit and don't track it, but I especially don't care because the majority of it comes from fruits and veggies. On the other hand, I try to avoid added sugar as a regular part of my diet. If I want a candy bar, then that's fine, but I don't want to consistently eat things with added sugar. I would have to eat a lot of fruit (and I eat quite a bit of it) to get close to the amounts of added sugar that I am sure I was eating before.

If you want to reduce sugars, you may have to reduce some fruits. Tropical fruits like banana, mangos, grapes and dates tend to be high in sugars. Berries are the lowest.

I am one who is staying in ketosis due to health reasons so I count all sugars... well all carbs since they are just chains of sugars. Sugars are sugars in my mind.

Depends on your reasons for wanting to stay under the sugar goal.
