Losing weight with Medical Help - New Here

Hi all,
I am 41 years old, 5'10" and 190 lbs. with a goal weight of 150 - 155 lbs. I have been approaching dieting in a very casual (and not very effective) way until I received a bunch of bad labs back from a physical a month ago. My cholesterol was terrible (low HDL, high LDL and horrendous triglycerides). My fasting glucose was high (pre-diabetic) and my blood pressure was even a little high. My doctor gave me the option of a pile of prescriptions or a referral to a doctor that specializes in weight loss. I chose the later. I was on cholesterol medication for a stint a few years ago and it made me very ill. I'd really like to avoid it for as long as possible. I have another appointment with my main GP in 7 months to see if I can help some of this with lifestyle change and lost weight.
I met with the weight loss doctor two weeks ago. They've run a few more tests since my thyroid numbers were a little off as well and she wanted to take an insulin test to see how bad the resistance is. She loaded me up with supplements (apparently my vitamin D, potassium and a few other things were low) and said we'd discuss any prescriptions that I might need when she gets my labs back (I see her again on Wednesday). Medications for thyroid, metformin, and phenadrine were all discussed as possibilities that may be added to my regimen.
She also told me to get on the diet immediately with the following restrictions: 1200 calories a day, no more than 75 carbs a day (I can subtract out dietary fiber), at least 100 grams of protein a day. No more diet soda. 100 oz of water a day (this is a work in progress).
As I said before, I meet with her again on Wednesday and at that time she will be reviewing my diet from the last two weeks. I'm afraid I may be doing it wrong (silly, huh?). I've been eating eggs, lots of meat and all kinds of things that I would consider bad for cholesterol. All of the good cholesterol foods are too high in carbs for me to consider. I'm afraid I may be getting way too much fat. I made my food diary public and would love some input. The second week is a little better than the first week as I was still figuring things out then.
I'd also love a few friends. I have my siblings as friends now, but they aren't very active.
