Constipation & depression & not eating

Hi. So I have depression and I recently got my first job. I work 8-12 hours a day and my horrible boss doesn't allow us to eat , have paid breaks, or ever sit down and its taking a toll on my body...I think. Of course my feet and back hurt a lot, but I haven't gone poo in 2 weeks without the help of laxatives, I haven't used my gym membership in 2 weeks, I'm depressed all the time, and my body (especially my abdomen) hurts so much. I dont know what to do because i need this job while I'm looking for other jobs. Should I just keep taking laxatives and just "suck it up" for the other problems?

What country are you in? Many countries have labor laws that allow or require a person to take breaks. Many companies even require that their workers take breaks. Are you drinking enough water or eating enough fiber? If you aren't or you aren't eating enough in general, then that really could lessen frequency of bowel movements.

I would be careful about taking laxatives and work extra hard at finding a new job. Also are you being treated for your depression or is that new?

Oh, Honey. This is terrible. First of all, cut out the cheese! Cheese causes constipation! Do what your grandma did and eat some prunes. They can be tough, so cook them a little while. And eat some oatmeal. Drink lots of water.

But you people are right -- this is illegal! You could easily end up in the hospital! I am really scared for you, for a lot of reasons. Please do whatever you can to get out of this situation!

Please don't keep taking the laxatives - they can have severe health repercussions.
Rather try for natural remedies, dried fruit, lots of water, lots of fiber, exercise, licorice (or even licorice tea).
I think what would be best for you is to leave your job to focus on getting your health back, and report them to whatever tribunal you have access to.

Im in Canada and have some experience in labour issues. What province are you in? Each province has an ombudsman that can intervene with difficult (and abusive) employers and can do so while keeping you anonymous. The stress of the workplace is contributing to your ill health. If you can make some changes there, I am sure you will be better able to handle everything else.

I take a laxative every day, due to some medications I take - Restoralax, or the generic equivalent, found at most drugstores. Its perfectly safe to take everyday. It might give you some relief.
