From what I can tell by searching Google, your body uses anywhere from 300-700 calories a day producing the breast milk. So theoretically you could eat maintenance and lose .5-1 pound a week without doing anything. If you are gaining weight, it's because your body is wanting you to eat more to compensate for the lost calories. You need to log and track your food accurately using a food scale. If you are eating in a deficit, you will lose weight.
Since there is no way to tell exactly how many calories you are burning from breast feeding, you should set your goal to .5 pounds per week and see how much you lose. If you are losing at a good pace, then stick with it. If you aren't losing at all, you are eating too many calories.0
