Trying to change rituals

This may sound trivial, but I have just started my journey. It has been sporadic at best. My knees have been hurting and all of a sudden they feel a little better and I'm able to move better (walked 1/2 mile on the treadmill this week). My knees are now clicking but not painfully popping. I have recorded my meals a couple of times and it was eye opening. Too much salt, protein and carbs. I will get better as I have not ever been on a healthy eating plan. I'm starting to move and am trying to change life-time poor habits/rituals.

It's not trivial at all. It's amazing what a difference logging makes and it's shocking at what we learn about what we are eating when we log. Knowledge is power and while logging won't guarantee that we eat better it will guarantee that we will be better informed about our nutrition.

Thanks mel35645, I have decided to seriously start logging my food today, and you are correct, it's shocking!
I'm going to try to make it through the day today without grazing. That's my first goal. I bought weight and food scales yesterday and have decided to take this one day at a time. This is a huge mind shift for me as I have not ever stayed on a diet more than a few hours. I've decided to take baby steps.

baby steps and small changes you can stick to. I know that my problem is that I go all out for 2 weeks (eating, running, lifting weights, using the app, being on the forum, reading everything about weight loss/fitness etc.) and then i slip up somewhere and suddenly it's 2 months of over eating and not moving.

So I'm right with you on the small steps that you can stick to. Good luck.
