Hi all

This is probably down here somewhere but I just can't quite see it. But just checking what are the best things to track:

- calories
- carbs
- fat
- protein
- cholesterol
- sodium?
- sugars?

I think probably the first 5 are the most important but not sure which is more important sodium or sugars? I seem to go over on my sugar everyday just by having fruit and a cup of tea with milk!!!

Thanks a mil!

I do the first four you listed and sodium and iron. I gave up on the sugars too. I'm a type 2 diabetic and the sugars aren't bothering me as long as I keep my carbs in check. I just do the iron because I have a tendency towards anemia but I really fall short in the iron on most days. It's really a personal decision based on what you are trying to control the most.

I'm not quite sure what the MOST important categories are (because every BODY is different, according to needs) ,but I like to track: Calories, Carbs, Saturated Fat, Protein, Fiber and Sodium. I do not gauge my sugars because just about all of them are from fruits and other "non-processed" natural sources.

Thanks a mil girls. That's what I'm thinking...maybe not tracking my sugars and tracking something else would be better because any of the sugars that I am eating is from fruit or other healthy sources so I feel that can't be bad...I just can't seem to stay within my sugars any day...

    Thanks again

I too track sodium instead of sugar since my sugars are 99% fruit related. I wish MFP would let us have more categories!! Hint hint, MFP.
