personally i don't play pokemon, but my son showed it to me. i took a walk with the app on and it distracted me and i walked further because i was trying to catch them. lol . was long as you are aware of your surroundings, it is a cute distraction.3

I'm already addicted to Frozen freefall so I'm not even going there! Seems to be huge in NZ.2

Its a great add-on to your daily walk...you just have to use common sense by being aware of your surroundings and being considerate to others.2

My kids are totally into it... I have a 15 year old boy and an 11 year old girl. I like how it gets them moving.1

I agree!0 -
More pedestrian and motor vehicle accidents since the advent of texting and smartphones, Darwin at work?
Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I have been waiting 20 years for Pokemon Go. I need to go catch me some Weedle.7

I love playing it. Be careful though. My mom informed me last night that people are putting lures on pokestops to attract pokemon go players and then robbing them at gun point (my mom is a dispatcher and has apparently had a lot of calls about it).4

So sad... And pathetic!0 -
Okay serious answer:
Sounds like a lot of people are having a blast with it, personally I am not a huge Pokemon fan. Shadow2soul brought up something I have discussed already on my feed...
"After looking up safety concerns about Pokémon Go in relation to my daughter after hearing about 3 accidental deaths, numerous players walking into traffic or onto private property improperly recognized by the app as a public area and lastly robbers using the the app to add a beacon to a pokestop to lure and locate players. Never heard of a game that is barely 3 days old causing so much mayhem so quickly. It's cute and gets people out of the house exercising but there are inherent risks becoming evident rather quickly...robbers is the least of my concerns, what about sexual predators? Great concept for an app, I mean Nintendo stock went up 10% today but I think they need to address some of these safety concerns. Even a warning or recommendation not to play alone or digress into isolated areas etc. People sure like to *kitten* up great ideas."
But as a friend mentioned this has a similar pattern to texting whilst crossing the street etc It is ultimately the responsibility of people to be aware of their surroundings and try to use common sense.

I just started it yesterday and found out I have Ratatats in my house!! I need me some Weedle too!0 -
I've been playing it a ton. Since last Thursday I walked an extra 9 miles playing it. And my 5 year old is super into it. Since I'm pregnant I find my motivation to exercise is lacking. This is just what I needed..and it's fun.2

I think it's great! It gets people out and moving! I saw a funny meme a couple days ago, it said something like "Michelle Obama tried for 6 years to get people to exercise, Nintendo did it in one week!"9

Yup, if you walk into traffic because of a game, it's not the game's fault.5 -
Here's a suggestion:
If kids are walking around in public playing the game, an adult should be with them...supervising them. Sound logical? I sure hope so. Maybe this is assuming that the adult isn't playing too... Or texting and walking.
Confession.... I tried to walk my dog and play.... Didn't work so well, and it wasn't fair to the dog!4 -
I think it's a pretty neat app. I feel a little bit embarrassed to be my age and chasing a darn Duoduo for half a mile this morning. And no, I didn't catch him.2

I'm sure I'm older than you (46), so don't sweat it.
I was wandering randomly around my yard this morning... My neighbors might think I'm starting to lose it.0 -
This Pokemon Go is set up by Niantic Labs (Google) on the portal locations of Ingress (Ingress.com) which I have enjoyed playing since it started. In fact most of the Poke stops and gyms were submitted by Ingress players. It is similar to a global game of capture the flag. I was walking at the time due to running knee pain and thought it would be fun to do. I enjoyed the competition and started running between portals to attack more. I kept this up for months until I realized I was running about seven miles a day and my knees didn't hurt. The interval running was the trick. I lost over fifty pounds and was in the best shape of my life. I even do half marathons now. The Pokemon players are a bit confused when I run up and play and run off because I am not playing their game. Now I only do Ingress runs when I am slowly trying to build up miles after a break. You don't have to stare at your phone the whole time which makes it safer in my opinion. I am one of the only Ingress players in my area that doesn't have a gas bill and also ride my bike to play. I have met some great people too. Level 15 if you are interested.3

I've walked about 15 miles this past week. If I keep going at the same rate, I'll be walking about 21 next week as we go for longer and longer walks playing it. It's good harmless fun, and we encountered someone last night who was playing and we became a wandering group of players and new friends. Our local players have a meetup every week down at our park and we all go out and hunt Pokemon and chat and have a great time as new people join.

I love it! I don't personally play it but my 3 kids and my husband do. They have been walking a TON! I turn on Map My Walk, they turn on Pokemon Go and then we head off. They have been walking for hours without the normal "I'm tired" ,"How far are we going?", "I'm bored", etc. Although I have to say between my normal runs and all this walking my legs are more sore than normal. lol5

How do you get Pokemon with higher CP?0
-
You can power them up with star dust and breed specific candies and the higher your trainer level, the higher the cp will be on the Pokemon you catch1
-
My husband and I are having a blast. I even get the kids at work helping me run around looking for them at the park and such. I'm not into levelling them up but I do want to catch them all! I have never seen my husband voluntarily take a walk until this game. Seriously been on him for months and now he has eggs to hatch.1

Had a great gather last night in Olean, NY. About 30 people showed up downtown at a local park. Great times were had, friends were made, and Pokemon were caught!2

Anyone play ingress?0

We went out to dinner with our kids and there were Pokestops and gyms everywhere! It was awesome!
Caught my first Jigglypuff!1
