My Rant For The Day

At the risk of sounding like the king who complains about his castle being too big, here I go. I am so sick and tired of being told by every person I come into contact with that I have lost too much weight and am too thin. I am 5"3 and weigh 112 pounds. I used to be 184 pounds and it took 2 long years of hard work to get here. At first I just shrugged it off thinking they are just used to seeing the old me, now it makes me angry. I have actually had people go so far as to ask if I am anorexic. I actually started to worry that maybe I was too thin so I went to my doctor, she says my weight is perfect. I am almost to the point where I am confused as to why people think it is perfectly ok to tell someone they are too thin but not ok to tell them they are too fat. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!

It's not just you! People do get over it after a while, in my experience. But yes, a lot of the people in my life were so used to seeing me overweight/obese that they couldn't reconcile my new weight with the old one.

People care about you and want to make sure that you haven't got thin through dangerous practises like crash dieting or diet pills, or that you will continue losing weight when you dont need to.

I feel people have a warped sense of what "healthy" is these days. I also think if you were always thin it's no big deal, but if you are big, you lose weight, now you are thin, because of the difference you are now "sick". The same with people that have been thin all their lifes, then gain a bunch of weight. The visual difference in us sends up red-flags.

I say keep kicking butt and taking names...do what makes YOU feel good. People will just get used to it.

I had a friend come up to me at church Sunday and tell me that I looked bad and he was concerned for me. I still weigh 180 lbs. and am at @ 25% body fat. 1) people are used to the old you. 2) people are used to fat being normal. 3) people project their negative body image issues on to you. I am learning to answer with grace. But it is sometimes difficult.

Ok, but do you think it is ok to tell someone who is gaining weight, "Gee you are getting so big, I hope you are healthy. you really should see a doctor. Please dont gain anymore, you are starting to look awful.

I think if someone was close to you they would be able to break a social taboo and say that.

Is that what you are mad at? Social taboos? Would you rather it be okay that everyone can make comments on everything about a person? I dont understand what you are mad about.

It is strange that anorexia is a more comfortable topic than obesity. But keep on keepin on. People will get used to the new you.
