Not sure why, my diet only consists of lean meats vegetables, legumes and fruits low in sugar. Could it be the lack of carbs? I only consumed about 500 calories yesterday and feel a little weak. Please any advice?

If you only ate 500 calories yesterday and you feel weak today, you need to eat more.

Many people find that reducing carbohydrates also reduces their hunger. If it reduces your hunger to the extent that you cannot eat enough to maintain health and energy, then it probably isn't a good plan for you.

Thank you.I actually didn't know the lack of carbs could do that, it was just a thought. I will start adding more carbs to my diet.

I suffer from GI issues sometimes and go through days where it's a struggle to eat. I can't function on super low calories so I will make a small calorie dense protien shake. I use 8 oz coconut milk, 1 scoop of Garden of Life Plant Protein Powder as it has a lot of nutrients and vitamins, 2 scoops of vanilla Orgain Protien Powder (plant based as well), 2 tbsp raw cacao powder, 1 tbsp flax seed oil, 2 tbsp hemp seeds, and 1 tbsp vanilla extract. It rings in at over 500 calories and is packed with protien and nutrients. You don't have to use those specific ingredients - it was just an example of how to get calories. If you can't eat you can do that three times a day and still get plenty of calories and nutrients. Also, make yourself drink plenty of water throughout the day - you don't want to get dehydrated.

I will add if you have no appetite for a few days see your doctor. Not being able to eat will run you down pretty quick. I had to do a liquid diet for four days for a medical test and I felt like death on day four as I could only have clear fluids so I was only getting a few hundred calories a day - it was horrible. Good luck!

You didn't mention healthy fats. Be sure to have a little nut butter, cheese or avocado. They are calorie dense and will help you balance out your macro nutrients.

I've been having this issue as well lately; every summer my appetite decreases. I've been forcing myself to at least hit 1700 calories and yesterday I forced myself into a surplus because I woke up feeling very lightheaded. I found some calorie dense foods to eat and went to town. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Thanks! That shake sounds good! Where can I get that protein powder?

I have period episodes like this occasionally where I just don't feel like eating much for a few days. I usually try to eat something mild like rice, or higher calorie like sweets, because when it goes away, I usually can't stay satiated for a few days otherwise.

I get everything from Whole Foods but I think it's available online and at a few vitamin shops. I think CVS carries the Orgain powder as does Costco and Harris Teeter. I would also check the net for coupons as there are usually coupons for the protien powders.
