Any decent brand is fine. Get one that has good reviews on Amazon.

I got mine from Bed Bath & Beyond, it's a Biggest Loser scale. It was less than $20 and has lasted me over a year, I've had no problems with it.

Mine is literally a no-name brand bought at Wal-Mart. Though, it might be their brand? (Whatever brand it is for their 'home' items.)

    It was maybe $20?

    GREAT investment!

I recently ordered from Amazon for $25 an EatSmart Precision Pro - Multifunction Digital Kitchen Scale. It works well. If you have a very big plate you may have trouble reading the LCD.

I actually own 3 food scales. 2 are in our kitchen and one is in my bag and is about the size of a flip cell phone. Obviously the small one can't weigh much but it is handy for those times when I want to know what a piece of fruit weighs or something like that. If you get one make sure you can read it with a plate on it. it is a real pain if you can't and some of them put the screen so close to the scale plate that you can't read them with any reasonably sized thing on them.
