Hello. My name is Danielle. I live in Ohio, and I've been very sedentary person for a long time now (about 3 and a half years since I quit my job). When I was younger, I was really active. I loved riding my bike for hours on end and running through the woods (my friends used to jokingly call me 'Pocahontas').
Back in May I was put in the hospital with severe heartburn. After blood tests and doctor visits aplenty, I was found to have high triglycerides (481) and bad cholesterol. On orders from my primary care physician (PCP), I have started to change my diet, watching saturated fats (since that's what he mainly said to watch). I also asked my PCP for a referral to a nutritionist. She has me also watching total fat, sodium, and fiber intake. I was also advised to start exercising. I finally got a treadmill, and my goal is to use it AT LEAST 3 days a week for 45 minutes each time (I used it for the first time today).
I joined my fitness pal for support, advice, and motivation. I struggle with motivating myself. I often joke that I used up all my willpower on overcoming my two decades long period of biting my nails. I've poured more willpower into overcoming my fast food addiction. My fiance and I used to eat fast food 3-6 times a week! We are now down to just a couple times a month (and it's usually a pizza from Little Caesars).
I really could use GREAT recipes. I am a picky eater, unfortunately. I HATE fish/seafood, for example, which is considered to be great weight-loss food-stuffs by many. I could use friends that support me through this journey (I don't really have any, all of my friends being online only, but I'm used to that so I can work with it). Thanks for taking the time to read this, and good luck on your journey.
