No. Eating over maintenance causes weight gain. Fats do not unless you eat enough to put you over maintenance. It will help you to crap, though. I eat around 60-80g of fat daily and am losing weight.

I already eat 85g of fat per day...

You are a guy who is bulking. Your needs are higher.

It must be time for a flogging a dead horse gif by now?

I'm around that number too. I'm 5"8 and 147lbs if that makes a difference. When i was low carbing, i was around 110-120g of fat a day if I'm remembering correctly, and i lost weight very quickly.

I know. It's quite amusing and a little scary.

How's this one? It sums up my feelings ATM.

How about a naturopath? Doctors just prescribe meds, try an alternative route....

Or perhaps the op should listen to advice and not eat a crazy amount of things that cause constipation and take tons of supplements when his blood numbers are abnormal

And talk to his doctor about all things he's doing and see a registered dietician.

my blood tests and salt levels came back normal all except the creatinine levels which the doctor said was a consequence of my low bf and muscle as well as exercise and higher protein. I've stopped taking all my tablets - CLA, l-carnitine, ZMA, AGF-1, BCAAs (they make depression worse) and l-glutamine - as well as throwing away m dulcolax and instead using the prescription fybogel and probiotics

the doctor says I have vertigo, they checked everything, sodium/potassium levels vitamin levels e.g. iron, pulse and oxygen levels and everything was fine, but I thougt you got really sick with vertigo?

The blood tests came back as having above the recommended levels of urea and creatinine but sodium and potassium levels were good

Which both happen when one consumes more protein than necessary.

Eat a donut or two, instead of an additional protein.

I've been taking these sporadically for the past few weeks to try and ease the constipation I suffer with IBS but i take double the recommended dosage as two is not enough to get me going. I've been reading side effects of dulcolax and they do coincide with what I'm going through namely dizziness confusion and weakness. Should I stop taking them and just be constipated instead?

Hi, I really feel for you. IBS sufferer and also Diverticulitis sufferer here. I am not an MD, not trying to diagnose or judge you because I relate. I politely recommend switching up your diet. Perhaps cutting out dairy (worked for me) and adding more high fiber whole foods (works for me.) Everyone is different :) though, check with your Doctor. When my doctor got my colonoscopy results, along with my IBS issues he gave me the above recommendations. All the best to you and here's to hoping you feel better soon!

If you're really chronically constipated, there's a chance that you have impacted stools. You need to ease off the extreme diet until it's fixed. You need to talk to your doctor about using something like movicol (or whatever it's called over your way) to properly clear you out. Glycerine suppositories or even an enema would probably be helpful, too.

If a very high protein diet is causing you such problems to such an extent then it is harmful to keep on carrying on as you are. Scars from bowel surgery tend to spoil the appearance of your six pack.

I haven't had that issue, even when competing in bodybuilding. It's either a sign that you are taking in too much protein or that you're losing muscle mass.

I just said a high protein diet as my protein intake has fluctuated over the past few months

I wouldn't class it as a "very high protein diet" as compared with others, especially since my PT actually advised me to up my protein intake by 50g even further

I have already cut out dairy e.g. replaced milk with soya milk which has no lactose and cut out cheese and very rarely eat eggs anymore when they used to be a staple in my diet. High fibre whole foods do tend to set off my IBS especially things like all bran but I still eat about 55g of fibre per day in the shape of oats, sweet potatoes etc

How much water, fat and fiber do you ingest daily? These three are huge in helping to keep us regular.

The dizziness and weakness sounds very similar to dehydration. I would try an electrolyte drink to see if that alleviates the symptoms and stop the ducolax. Miralax is much gentler as it is an ozmotic laxative (encourages more water to enter the bowel to soften stool) instead of the dulcolax which is more of a stimulant. I take a magnesium pill every 2 days to help me out with that part of IBS. However, you should see a doctor if you haven't already, though.

I drink about 5-6 litres of water, about 85g of fat and 50g of fibre per day. I drank an ekecrokyte drink earlier and it did 'perk' me up so I might just continue with that and stop the dulcolax but I hate being constipated

Sounds like a case of too much fibre to me. 35 g is the recommended maximum. Past that, it causes constipation.

But I agree with all the others, go see your doctor.

I would definitely recommend switching to a more natural laxative. Stimulant laxatives can really mess up your body's natural digestion if you use it like that. I have the same issue as you...I'm not sure if I have IBS but I'm constantly constipated even when I'm on the ideal diet. Lots of water and the occasional laxative and heating pad usually help. I only go once a week usually if I'm lucky, though.

I also take probiotics which I find to help a LOT

once a week?! that surely isn't healthy?

    It's not healthy..

I aim for once a day any more a bonus

In other words, you're not actually constipated.

I often have to see my doctor more than once for an issue that has not been alleviated.

the doctor said I had vertigo today which he said explains the dizziness, the doctor said my blood tests were fine except the high creatinine which was only 7 over andwhich both doctors (yes I saw two) said was a result of working out and low body fat, I will retake this test in a month after no exercise or meat for a week

Because those bodybuilders are on steroids and don't have IBS-c. Most of them are still destroying their body.
