It's corn season . . .

And the listings for the calories in a medium size ear, just plain boiled, seem to be all over the place. Calorie counts are different with vs without salt, or raw vs boiled. Sometimes by quite a bit. Any thoughts?

The entries are all made by users, so there's going to be some crazy numbers. I tend to look them up myself or use the USDA entries.

This is a wonderful resource - thank you!1

I use USDA info. It's as good a guess as any. https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods?qlookup=Corn&fgcd=&manu=&SYNCHRONIZER_TOKEN=94749983-6cb2-43ad-b13f-a442bb64aadd&SYNCHRONIZER_URI=/ndb/search0

I go for usda cooked corn, and just weigh the ear before and after eating, and subtract what's left.1

USDA corn, cooked, boiled http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calorie-chart-nutrition-facts
Weigh the ear before you eat it and the cob after and subtract. The difference is what you ate.0 -

I'm happy to have a reasonable estimate - just not 100 calories off :-). Thanks to all who responded
