Can you lose weight without exercising?

So I maybe only have 10 pounds or so to lose, but with the baby I don't have the energy or time to exercise (at least not yet). Can I really lose weight by just dieting? I watch my carbs, try to drink lots of water and eat lots of protein/healthy fats.
(P.S. I haven't logged in my diary in a while, so no need to look at it).

Yes, but you need to count calories and maintain a deficit every day. (P.S. carbs don't matter)

What are your current height, weight, and age?
  • Calories in < calories out. That's all there is to it.

Heck yeah you can dieting is (don't quote me on the percentage) 80% diet 20% excerise. So for sure it can be done. I would workout later to tone up but until you and baby are ready eat healthy and track those cals:)

Yes but depending on the elasticity in
your skin, you might want to try resistance
    bands just to tone things.

Yes, in fact that's basically the main way to do it. It takes a lot of time and energy to exercise yourself into a significant calorie deficit. Most people find it easier to just eat a little less.

Exercise is recommended when possible though for it's myriad benefits. One of them being that if strength training continues while dieting more of the weight lost will be fat and less of it will be useful muscle.

I've lost lots of weight by not exercising....but I've also put it back on fast and furious.

Yes you can but of course weight comes off slower. I would think that you are very active in your daily routine with the baby. Someone at a fitness class had a suggestion for me - turn on some music, MTV, VH1 etc., and dance to at least 4 songs a day. They can each be done at separate times according to your schedule.
