Can someone explain counterweights to me?
If I weigh 112lbs and have the weight on the assisted pullup machine set at 84lbs, does that mean I am effectively pulling up 28lbs?
Dumb question I know, but want to get my head around it!

You have it correct - the nett weight you're working is your body weight minus the setting on the counter-weight3
