normal to gain 4 pounds overnight?

Hey guys I have been fasting for a couple of days (making up the days that I missed in Ramadan). last night before sunset i weighed myself and I was 117. This morning I weighed myself first thing in morning and I was 121 pounds. I ate under 1200 calories yesterday and did cardio for about 100 minutes. Is this weight gain just maybe water retention (I did eat chips, popcorn and a little potato salad).

    High salt foods can do this.
    So does drinking alcohol, monthly cycle, or a new medication. Mine lasted 2 days.

    Fasting aside, why would you eat so few calories while doing that much exercise?

    I am trying to be 105 pounds by September 21. I feel the most comfortable around 100-105 pounds.

    Yes it's normal. When you exercise your body creates tears in the muscle fibers. As a result, your body allocates and increase fluid retention to preserve and rebuild mass.

    That being said, aggressive weight loss increase muscle loss, which means you burn less fat (especially when glycogen hits low levels). If you want a lean and defined body, then slow down weight loss and add in resistance training.

    It is best to weigh yourself at the same time of day. I always weigh first thing in the morning after using the restroom and before eating or drinking anything and wearing just underwear. If I weigh this morning and then tomorrow I weigh at night before I go to bed then I would not be at all surprised at a 4 pound increase. It isn't that uncommon to be 4 pounds different from morning to night. Most people weigh more at night and less in the morning, but if you are eating at night and not during the day it would make sense that you weigh less at night than in the morning.

    Both were on an empty stomach. I was fasting yesterday so I had an empty stomach when I weighed myself (117). This morning I weighed myself on empty stomach as well (121 pounds)

    How long before you weighed yourself did you fast? Because if it was a long time and then you ate dinner, and weighed the next morning (much shorter time of fasting), you would have an increase of GI waste.


    This is why it's important to weigh at the same time. Also, the body naturally cycles weight throughout the day. Hydration levels, GI waste, glycogen storage, etc.. all effect weight.

    How long before you weighed yourself did you fast? Because if it was a long time and then you ate dinner, and weighed the next morning (much shorter time of fasting), you would have an increase of GI waste.

    So you weighed yourself on an empty stomach after going almost 24 hours without eating, and then after having all of your food and drinks and you are wondering why gained 4lbs?

    Wouldn't you think that your fatherest point in your day without eating or drinking would be your lowest weight? Not half way through your day?

    I didn't say right after, I said half way through the day. And it should still stand to reason that the first time you weighed yourself which was after fasting all day would be a lower weight than after only fasting for 10 hours.
