I don't eat back my exercise calories either. Makes no sense to me and I've tried it and it doesn't work for me.0

No but at the dentist last night the hygenist was scolding me for not flossing and she said she does it at night while watching TV since it helps her with the munchies while watching TV. She won't snack once she's flossed. Weird, I could easily floss, eat, floss or not!!! I need more self control apparently (and the desire to floss).0

I brush my teeth so I won't eat anymore.....but then eat anyway and get pissed that I have to brush again. :laugh:

OH heck yeah! I brush my teeth when ever I'm having a craving for sweets so that I stay away from them. I also brush them after dinner to help me not eat after a certain time.0

Yep a WHOLE week. Seriously, I am not doing all this work to stay at the weight I am. I agree with alot of others...what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.0

I have done it once or twice when I really wanted something that was clearly outside of my calories/macros.
If Im hungry, I dont do it...I eat real, healthy food.
But to prevent myself from eating tons of crap....been there!0 -

haven't done that one but I will fill my cup of with crushed ice and munch on crushed ice chips for the last couple hrs before I go to bed cuz it feels like I am eating something and seems to work some days.0

I do that sometimes but I actually like eating something with fresh clean teeth. People say orange juice just after cleaning your teeth is gross but I love it.0

I find if I eat back calories burned I do NOT lose any weight. If, however, I am in a stall, I will one day EAT BACK burned calories and this has unstuck me stall. When I get to an ideal weight, I will happily eat back all burned calories plus more.0

I do it all the time! I have invisalign so after I eat I have to brush my teeth and put my trays back in. It helps so much with the late night snacking I used to do. I brush my teeth about 6 times a day!0

Nope...If I'm hungry (actually hungry) I eat! If I'm not, I don't! I brush my teeth when I'm going to bed at night, well, because I'm done with my day!
If you are actually hungry (like feeling hunger pains) or are under your macros for the day, you should eat!
If you're just trying to not snack...I say do whatever works for you! I sometimes drink water or chew gum or go for a run0 -

Once again...you calorie GOAL has a weight loss deficit built in...it is NET of exercise as this is a NEAT method calculator. When you set up your activity level you are NOT supposed to include exercise calories with a NEAT method calculator...thus, exercise becomes extra activity to be fueled. If you exercise your *kitten* off you're making an already substantial deficit even bigger which can lead to other problems down the road.
You need to understand the tool you are using...do you drive screws with a hammer? Of course not..you wouldn't be utilizing that tool properly would you...same goes here...basically you do not understand this tool and likely you do not understand the science of thermodynamics at all. Here's how it breaks down as simple as I can make it....
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), NEAT (Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis), TEF (Thermic Effect of Food, and EAT (Exercise Activity Thermogenesis).
BMR + NEAT + TEF + EAT = TDEE...where your TDEE is your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. With MFP, they leave your EAT out of the equation....
So you have BMR + NEAT + TEF - X calories for weight loss = MFP calorie GOAL. MFP excludes EAT because if you're new to exercise you're likely inconsistent...and that's ok because with MFP you aren't punished by not exercising...you just eat to that calorie goal and you lose weight.
Now...when you exercise you're adding a whole other aspect into the equation...your EAT...it is unaccounted for with your MFP goal...You have to eat your EAT back with MFP to avoid too large a calorie deficit. This will also teach you how to properly fuel your training activities when you get to maintenance. You don't just workout for calorie burn...everyone starts out that way, but ultimately, those that are serious and really make a lifestyle out of fitness end up having independent fitness goals...and those goals require fuel...you don't do Ironman or Marathon, etc without properly fueling your engine.0 -
