Hello. At the end of every day when I complete my food log it gives me a predicted weight I'd be in 5 weeks. Has anyone found if to be true? I'm tracking my food like a psycho but don't seem to be losing as much as it says I should be.....just wondering if anyone else reaches that goal number within the 5 week span.....

It's not accurate. It can't account for everyday fluctuations and the calculation is based on you doing exactly (and I mean 100% exactly) the same thing you did today everyday for the next 5 weeks.4

for most NO, thats what it projects you would way if you eat the same amount of calories, carbs, fat, protein and burn the same amount of calories day in and day out,. according to that I should have been at my goal weight several months ago. Im not. Im taking a hiatus and eating at maintenance because even though I was logging and weighing I wasnt even losing a half a lb a week(what I had it set to). so no for most people its just an estimate if you were to do everything the same day every day

^^^ This. It's complete bunk (for most people).
That being said, if you aren't getting the results you were expecting, there could be several contributing factors. If it's only been a couple weeks, then have some patience. It's a long game. If you haven't already, I highly recommend reading through some of the stickied posts. This is probably one of my favorites:

It would only be accurate if (1) you ate that very same way every single day, (2) MFP estimates your calorie requirements & exercise burn absolutely accurately, and (3) you record your food & exercise perfectly.
In other words, very unlikely to be accurate.
If you log meticulously, and your metabolism behaves similarly to the population averages on which the requirements calculations are based, it may give you a rough approximation of what you'd weigh if every day were exactly like the current day.
Since MFP does not calculate my calorie requirements particularly accurately in general, it's not even close to accurate for me. (I'm an outlier; I can eat more than MFP thinks I should be able to.)
Your best, most accurate estimates will always come from your own data, if you log meticulously.2 -
Hi I've been on here 5 weeks and it's not accurate. I have been under calorie goal of 1,200 calories 99% of the time and exercising 4-5 times a week. I don't think it takes into consideration fat turning to
Muscle! My weight hasn't really budged but I look much more toned and trim.2 -

fat doesnt turn into muscle. you can build muscle, you can lose fat. but you cant take fat and turn it into muscle.you lose fat over the muscle and will see more definition is what is most likely happening in your case

I think that is what louiseroma is referring to, not necessarily a direct conversion of one matter to another lol
but yes you are spot on1 -
mines been reasonably accurate. I just log food and not my excercise, and its been close enough to the mark, but now i dont bother looking at it.0

not correct for me

Only if the CO and CI part of the equation is accurate and if you have the same CO and CI every day.0

you would be surprised at what some people believe. even if she didnt mean it in that context,it helps other newbies who may not know that it doesnt work that way.4 -
I don't take it seriously but I did start keeping track of it for fun.
"If everyday was like today...." Everyday WONT be like today.
When I began MFP I started screen capturing my predicted weights, I ended up being under my predicted weight As the month went on I took better control of my diet so I lost more weight.
One thing I noticed is if you go back through your calendar and look at past dates/predictions they have changed from when you closed the day. I think that is because it makes the calculation based on the current day's weight, not the weight you weighed on that day.
I made a Google Sheets spreadsheet template if anyone else wants to keep track of their predicted weight and their actual weight. You have to start with today's prediction, you can't go back through the calendar and use old results.
This might require a Google account, use the link and copy it to your Google drive. I don't know if downloading the spreadsheet will work in Excel.

Bonus: A blood pressure tracking spreadsheet: This uses the new 2018 guidelines for elevated and high blood pressure. There is also graphs for your blood pressure and pulse rate.
