SO I have a fun little story about Pokémon Go.

So I live in South Florida and my boyfriend and I had been planning a trip to ZooMiami for MONTHS. And recently they started a promotion for pokemon go players because they have a LOT of pokestops. At least 50 and 4 gyms. Of course, us both being addicted to pokemon go, we were like "heck yeah".

We prepared for a full week, stocking up on pokeballs and items and buying incubators and lures

So we arrive at the zoo and there are literally 20/30 pokestops already viewable on my radar, I was PSYCHED. Were both getting our tickets and im opening up the app, prepared for the awesome, and as it opens I notice the radar is empty.

My first thought is A. the radar is super unreliable, and B. Maybe its because were not IN the zoo yet.

NOPE.

We were there for 5 1/2 hours, walked/biked/ran about 6.5 miles. And while there were many, many, many, pokestops, the place was COMPLETELY devoid of pokemon. I couldn't believe it. I thought maybe it was a server issue but the second we pulled out of the parking lot I caught a Goldeen sooo... I don't know.

Im not too bummed because boy, did we stock up on pokeballs, and we also worked out harder than we both had in months, but for a place that was advertising about Pokémon Go, there sure were no pokemon :p

So you're on vacation and you seem to have spent day 1 staring into your phone screen? Interesting.

Not really staring, I wear the phone on a wristband and it vibrates when something is nearby. The zoo trip was a birthday present for me, not something my boyfriend is really into, so anything that gets him excited and up and moving and gets us enjoying our time together is alright with me :) we had an amazing time regardless.

Not my thing, but it's pretty cool that a video game is connecting with and encouraging exercise and being outdoors.

Definitely! Ive always headed downtown a couple of times a week and its usually a dead zone, ever since this came out theres been at least 50 people in the plaza every single night. I don't know how long itll last but im having fun while its here!
