Re-feed days anyone?

I don't know what I'm doing half the time but I've seen a lot of consistency in people, particularly bodybuilders and physique competitors, using a re-feed day to kick their metabolism in the butt. Just wanting to hear others experiences, for me it's been working great. I work for a moving company and I can barely get enough calories in to maintain, usually looking flat with little energy.
Any experience, advice, questions... anything?

There's a lot of rubbish on bb.com but this is worth a read.

My son is a powerlifter and trainer. He told me I needed to do re-feeding. I shrugged it off until two weeks ago when I hit a plateau. Did a couple of re-feed days and I'm moving the scale downward again.1

Refeed is effective if done properly, preferably with the advice of a coach. For me it's not a cheat meal, it's still a tracked day of higher carbs, lower fat and protein. If you do it as a day to go all willy nilly and eat anything and everything, it'll hinder you and prob cause you to take a couple steps on the wrong direction.1
