What's your typical day...

Of food like? I'm just interested in seeing what others eat, I can't eat high fibre foods or red meat..,so struggle to keep things interesting! Looking for inspiration

  • My diet isn't the most ideal, but here is a brief description of it anyway :)

I usually start the day off with a homemade muffin and two slices of turkey bacon, I make the muffins in big batches and freeze them, then defrost in the microwave. I stick to kind of healthy sorts, like oatmeal carrot.

I don't eat lunch but I snack throughout the day on things like edamame, frozen grapes, and boiled eggs.

For dinner its usually hearty southern fare, like a chicken pot pie, chili, pinto beans, etc. A few nights a week I'll just have a nice chicken breast, broccoli, and brown rice.

And I love my sweets so I'll have something like meringue cookies or berries and whipped cream for dessert.

Throughout the day I drink about 5 bottles of water, and try to have a cup of green tea in the evening. If I get hungry after dinner I have some popcorn or frozen grapes :)

I eat a lot of the same foods so I don't have to think about it too much. I also keep the fiber low and I don't like red meat. Breakfast is usually a greek yogurt or 2 hard boiled eggs. Mid mornng, I will usually have some cheese. Lunch is often 2-3 oz chicken breast with some raw veggies on the side. Afternoon snack can be a Cal-Naturale Protein Shake or a protein bar of some sort.

Dinners are harder. With all the kids activities, we often eat on the run. If that's the case, I try to find a Subway and I have a chopped salad with chicken. If we grill, I like chicken sausage or any fish grilled. I always end my day with a Weight Watchers Ice Cream.

At the moment I'm living in a country with good ready to eat pancakes, so I have pancakes with something sweet for breakfast with tea. At home I usually have something savoury on toast (hard boiled egg, cheese or sometimes marmalade).

For lunch I nearly always have a sandwich and an apple - not that hungry during the day, so not many snacks. Could be egg, tuna, cheese & pickle/tomato, hummus, or whatever my fiancé puts in my packed lunch that day!

Dinner is a lot more varied - I love vegetable stews of all different kinds, sometimes with beans in (e.g. ratatouille, veg chilli), and with some yoghurt and grated cheese on the top. Could have this with brown rice or a baked potato usually. Sometimes I have chicken and fish, or something from the Honestly Healthy cookbook, like aubergine with tahini sauce or jewelled quinoa. I like to try new recipes though so those are just the standards!

I nearly always have a pudding (in the British sense, which means anything sweet!) Fruit with yoghurt or a couple of mini Kinder or dark chocolates, or tea with a biscuit. Life's too short without a little treat :-D

Ok, we'll its good to see everyone has a treat! I was worried about having them and hindering my weight loss (even though it is always within my calorie allowance!)

    Thanks for all your help!
Breakfast I have breakfast biscuits (4) they have oats In

I tend to have ryvitia for lunch with cream cheese and Parma ham or soup with ryvitia

Dinner I have fish cakes or quiche or chicken, sausage casserole, salad, roast dinner etc

Snacks I tend to eat, snack a jacks (flavoured rice cakes) marshmallow wafer, strawberries, yoghurt, frozen yoghurt, small snack size ice ream...

Obviously I don't eat all those things in one day hahaha

I swap it up ... I keep protein high every day and play around with my carbs and fats (not literally play with them)

    Generally, I will have:

    Breakfast:
    2 cups of coffee
    Porridge of some description
    Possibly a banana

At the weekend I like to have omelettes for breakfast, normally onion, spinach and mushroom with a little low fat cheese.

    Lunch:
Normally a salad of some sort, with chicken or tuna or fish and hard boiled eggs
Occasional microwave meal if I'm really busy, but not often

    Dinner:
Ranges from about 12 different meals: chilli con carne, shepherds pie, cajun chicken pasta, some sort of meat with veg and potatoes, stew, curries, homemade fish and chips, homemade burgers, etc. I like comfort foods, but they are healthy the way I make them!

Snacks: I eat quite a lot of snacks. I nearly always have an apple a day, possibly some other kind of fruit with it. Then I have crisps or popcorn, a greek yogurt, carrot sticks with humous, ice lollies, to name a few.

I'm just starting to make the transition to a whole foods, plant based diet so I'm still trying to figure out what a typical day looks like lol.

But, yesterday I had an extra large green smoothie (kale, cucumber, collard greens, spinach, strawberries, blueberries, banana, raw honey, plain whole milk Greek yogurt and water/ice), a large serving of rice with mushrooms, carrot, onion and bell pepper and then some locally made dill cheddar (this stuff is sooo good!) and a handful of goldfish crackers. And then at the in-laws I ate a small piece of leftover cinnamon roll from a local bakery, that my crazy kid didn't want lol.

Today's plan is the same green smoothie but will switch out the yogurt for almond milk and add flax seed. And then I think I'll have some meatless chili, with the dill cheddar melted on top :)

My diet differs depending on if I'm working or not that day. On days that I work, I just have something small for breakfast to wake me up, like a bagel with cream cheese. My snacks are every 2 hours: greek yogurt and granola; and apple or other fruit and a fiber 1 bar. My lunch is generally a salad with tomato, nuts, tuna, and olive oil and vinegar on top- delicious! I'm addicted to that stuff! Dinner is usually whatever I want within reason, usually fish of some sort or pasta.

On my days off, I usually have a sandwich with avocado for breakfast whenever I decide to eat something, I eat some fruit for a snack, and my dinner is something light like soup or something.
