Back into distance running shape

Throughout High School I was involved in distance running (cross country) and track and field for sprinting (200 and 400m dash). In college I dropped distance running to focus exclusively on the sprints, which I was better at anyway. Now that I've graduated from college (4 years ago) and did the whole gain muscle thing for a few years, I'm looking to get more into distance running shape again.
Goal is to go from about 212lbs to somewhere in the 170-180lbs range. Have plans to start doing some triathlons, but have a little too much weight to carry around at this point.
Thanks in advance for the motivation, and feel free to add!
