I eat a lot of fruit and wonder if I should limit it to X Servings per day? I probably have 5 or more servings a day. I'm Type II Diabetic and my morning fasting blood sugar is around 100 (down from 140)
I know I Didn't get fat from eating fruit but just wonder if I should reduce my intake to maybe 3 per day to see if it helps my loss rate.
Forum Question:
If you are trying to lose how many fruit servings do you have per day?
If you are maintaining goal weight how much fruit do you have?

I would talk to your doctor about how much fruit is healthy, given that you are diabetic. Some fruits (bananas, mango) are exceptionally high in sugar while others (strawberries, watermelon) are mostly water.3

Generally for people who are losing weight, consuming fruit isn't an issue as long as it isn't crowding out other things that you need or is causing you to exceed your calorie goals. Since you do have Type II Diabetes, your situation may be different. Do you have a doctor or an RD you can speak to? Knowing how much fruit other (non-diabetic) people eat in the summer is going to be less helpful than advice that is specific to your medical situation.2

How does it affect your blood sugar? I'm not T2D, but from what I've heard from people some fruits can affect their levels a lot (berries not so much, bananas or peaches or melon more), but others find they don't. On the whole balancing carbs with protein and fat tends to be recommended, so you might want to make sure you eat the fruit with other foods. I love summer fruit but don't really snack, so I end up eating it as part of my meals.0

I can't eat more than 2 servings a day, personally, or I can't meet my protein and fat goals.0

I'm maintaining (woman) and try to limit myself to 3 portions of fruit per day. It's hard. I love fruit. But I love other foods too, and health, and normal weight0

Talk to your doctor and nutritional advisor. Diabetes is a serious disease.
Diabetes runs in my family. My grandfather died from its complications. 2 siblings have diabetes.
My ex husband's closest friend is in a diabetic coma.
A community board isn't the place to get advise on diabetes.

I don't really eat fruit. I'm not one of those "sugar is the devil" people, but I keep it low for my personal reasons. If I were going to eat it, I'd limit it to berries. Maybe 100grams or less in my yogurt.0

I eat a lot of fruit in the summer. So far today I've had 138 g blackberries and 203 g cherries. I'll probably have watermelon for dinner. I eat the same amount while losing weight. I tend to cut my calories by reducing grains (bread, pretzels) and cutting out 1 egg or boiling them instead of scrambling them w/coconut oil.0
