Looking for a non-sedentary job!
I wasn't sure which discussion group to put this in...I'm wondering if anyone has any job fields that at least don't involve sitting around at a desk all day or even better involve being active. I'm thinking about going to college in the future and was just looking for some ideas. Thanks!

Pretty much any hospital job. The guy that was transporting my mom from her room over to the MRI department told me that he clocks in about 4 miles a day just transporting patients around the hospital.

Have you considered purchasing one of those pedal stations that goes under your desk? My buddy's wife swears by hers and she has a sedentary job1

This. Like you said, not limited to nursing. The patient transports put on the miles!
I'm a hospital housekeeper and do about 6 miles a day, lift about 500-700 pounds of dirty linen a shift, plus trash, plus all the physical motions of cleaning. I'd probably be 400 pounds if I didn't work here!1 -
Industrial electrician, wearing a 40 lb tool pouch, bending rigid conduit and pulling wire all day (is great on the lats) ,just don't get promoted or your back to a desk job!0

I am a Respiratory therapist, usually the only one in the hospital... my legs usually hurt from walking so much. and between sitting down to chart and getting up to take care of my patients I get a great workout while I make money.
I used to be a bartender and actually was more active than Respiratory therapist. as RT I have to keep the calm... as bartender I could even run behind my bartop. I used to burn around 3000+ calories working 5 hours shift bartending0 -
I'm as nurse at a hospital and and I get 5 miles pretty much every day and lift very heavy/obese patients. I don't know if I would recommend it though. Guys would actually fair pretty well as a nurse these days though.0

Yeah - I worked in the Finance department of a hospital and still probably clocked in at least 2+ miles a day because the campus was so huge.
