I was SO excited because I found the 365 crinkle cut fries at whole foods without salt and it said they were 110 calories for about 28 pieces (about 84 grams)

Thank God I bought my food scale yesterday because I made about 30 pieces to weigh out and they were above 200 grams! Thats way more calories than I assumed!

So so SO happy I bought the food scale haha I weighed out around 100 grams and just added the extra calories and worked out a little more :)

BUY A SCALE EVERYONE! They are so extremely useful.

Ya. We're counting.. so we need to have something accurate to count on. Damn those estimated number! You can eat WAY more calories than you think if you don't have a scale :(

Exactly! I knew the package wasnt 100% accurate because it said about 28 pieces and they are obviously didnt sizes but dang I didnt expect it to be so off!

And Ive realized I can eat more eggs than I thought because I dont add any salt or butter or milk so thats a plus :)

Cheese too - although I usually tell people to grate it now because it looks like more! A little 30g block is disappointing, but a 30g heap is much better!

Whereas I found the opposite - that 20 or 25g of peanut butter (the serving size seems to vary from brand to brand) is actually more than I thought. I usually scoop out a biggish teaspoon (as in, not flat but not completely overloaded) and it's around 15 - 18g when I weigh it as I add it to my smoothie.
And the same with rice - I had been logging 1/2 cup, but when I weighed it I found that 100g was more than half a cup, but about the same (or slightly less) cals.
I was way off on potatoes though - a small potato weighs more than I thought.

I like shredded parmesan cheese because with the stronger flavour you get more bang for your buck (calories). 10g of that gives more flavour than 25g of light tasty in my opinion. It does depend a bit on the dish though.

So, that's the other good reason to weigh food - sometimes you get to eat more or log less calories!

That's why I love PB2. I add it to shakes and greek yogurt and you can definitely taste it with a lot fewer calories. :)

@Christine_72 Quest makes a good peanut butter protein powder. I mix it with their chocolate or salted Carmel (my fav).

Im confused though a little because my fiance made an omlet tonight with pepperoni and bacon and I found egg, omlet in my packet and weighed it but is it not correct because of the bacon and pepperoni?

Yum, i just finished a tub. I might buy one each of chocolate and peanut butter quest and mish mash them together in the same tub.

What do you mean? Did you mean to type plate, not packet? So he got all the bacon and pepperoni and you get left with just egg?? I'd still log it as is, better to over estimate than under.

I weigh food. My daughter weighs oil and lye. I make dinner. She makes soap. That scale gets used.
