I'm a nurse. I work night shift. Usually 3-4 nights a week. 12 hours shifts. I feel like it wrecks my body's metabolism. Any others out there struggling?

I feel your pain. I've worked up to 36 hours straight. Shifts change rapidly in my field, it is really hard to keep any semblance of a normal sleep cycle2

Wow! 36 hours straight? Fire fighter, EMT or Doctor? I don't know what a normal sleep schedule is anymore. I either don't sleep at all of binge sleep for 12+ hours.0

Night shifter myself...my sleep schedule is all muffed up!! It's making it really really hard to stay motivated and get into a routine. Every week I find myself staring over. Exercise has been hard with it being so hot. It makes me lethargic.0

I worked nights right out of nursing school, and I'm about to go back to nights again. I had to stay on somewhat of a day sleep schedule to feel normal. Even on my nights off I'd stay awake until at least 3 am. Workout videos were my friend because my gym wasn't open when I was awake and ready to workout. That was when I did p90x.
But I found out when I had a day shift nursing job that it was the job that caused me to stress eat, not the time of day. I snacked on high carb stuff throughout the shift to get quick energy on days just as much as I had working nights.1 -
I am a part time EMT, which means that my shift is different from day to day. Yesterday 0600-1800 then tonight 1800-06001

God bless you guys. I'm not sure I could do a night shift0

Don't you love the night shift .. One more for me then it's the weekend.0

It's a love/hate thing. I'm not a morning person at all. So night shift it is.2

Yea it's good .. But you loose the day unless your good with a few hours sleep.1

I don't sleep the day away. I get about 4 hours of sleep. Then I'm good to go. I have a 2 year old so sleeping the day away isn't an option.0

I accidently read that as " night shitters" for a sec1
