TAKE MEASUREMENTS, DO NOT JUST RELY ON THE SCALE!!!

I want to talk about why it is so important to take body measurements and not just rely on the scale to track your progress. The first reason is water weight. Everybody NEEDS to take your weight, divide it by 2 and drink that many ounces of water every day to flush out the toxins in your body and actually be hydrated. Also, did you know that stormy/overcast days can add several pounds to the scale, because low pressure makes our tissue retain more water? Another culprit is hormones, they can add 2-6lbs over a 7 day period. Anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen can also retain fluid and water weight. 3 shakes of salt, or 1/2 tsp of salt can add a pound of body weight since 1 gram of sodium can hold 16oz or 1lb of water. It is really important to remember that your body is a combination of muscle, tissue, bones and fat and that the number on the scale doesn't just reflect fat, but all of those things combined. On an average day, your weight can fluctuate several pounds. Also, staying regular is very important because your colon can hold up to 8lbs. So just remember to take measurements and track your non scale victories and do not get discouraged if your number on the scale fluctuates several pounds a day!!!

No you do not need to drink that much water a day. You should drink enough to be hydrated (check urine color).5
