Protein shake ideas

I have started lifting weights but I am extremely exhausted when am done. I want to start using plant base protein shake to help me recover and tone out without bulking up. Any ideas? Comment

Just pick a protein powder that suits your needs, add water or milk/ice. If you have calories to spend, add fruit or a nut butter. Protein doesn't tone you or bulk you up...it gives you more protein. Period.

This. But I will add that the more protein I get, the less sore I feel the next day. Might just be coincidence but I noticed when I added my shake (I was only getting 80g without them), and was hitting 100g minimum, I experienced less DOMS, even with new exercise.

I still get sore, but not like before when I'd have to add 2 or more motrin a day. Haven't had a motrin now since I pulled my shoulder during a lift cause my form slipped.

Its true my DOMS is much lessened when I follow the option to get some protein within an hour of a workout, and I'm much less fatigued during recovery over the next day or two if I make sure I get enough protein. I don't need much for it to help, maybe 10 grams. So that's pretty easy, cottage cheese, homemade yogurt with a good quality granola or nuts, peanut butter on a banana, etc. 10 grams is easy. If I feel I need more, I like the taste of Orgain Chocolate vegetarian protein powder mixed with PB2 peanut butter powder. One scoop of Orgain and one scoop of PB2 gives me a fairly low amount of calories but the right amount of protein, and the bonus is it tastes like my favorite candy, a peanut butter cup. I find Orgain too sweet on its own so mixing it with peanut butter powder is the way to go.

Whey proteins knock me for a lactose intolerant loop. While I can do cottage cheese in moderation, and my homemade yogurt doesn't have a lactose effect at all, the last time I took a whey protein powder I ended up ill for the rest of the day.

I love Orgain chocolate with frozen strawberries and unsweetened almond milk, oh and a tsp of almond butter. So yummy!! However, Gold Standard - Vanilla, has a lot more protein, less carbs and less calories, only 110 cals if you are on a deficit. It tastes like ice cream....literally..first whey protein I've had that tastes so yummy. Vega One also has very good ratings. I've had the mocha and vanilla flavors and they're both very good.

    Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.

When you can sit down or walk up steps the day after leg day, basically.
