Moving!

I'm going to be moving in a few months to Pittsburgh!

I really need to declutter things...I have stuff stored that I don't really use. I need to go through my clothes and get rid of some..I'm also going to have to buy stuff (kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, decor...)

Any suggestions on purging or decorating? I'm looking for things like deciding on what to purge, places for decor inspiration besides pinterest, favorite ways you organize your stuff, etc...

Help!

I've moved dozens of times (and lived in Pittsburgh!) and I end up donating A LOT. I typically have stuff that is too nice to be thrown out but I don't really need it and it makes me feel better to give it away.

As for decorating I'm useless there. In the past I've used nails already in the wall to hang stuff and only recently started putting my posters in frames. It's sad, it looks like a broke college kid's dorm. I can't decorate to save my life.

I think I'm going to end up donating a lot too. It's just when I go through stuff I never know how to decide what to keep and what to toss then end up keeping things anyway. Clothes will be easy since I probably can't wear a lot of what's stored now anyway.

Decorating will be a different story :/ after 15 years of living with someone else I'll be living alone.

Where did you live in Pittsburgh? I've visited the area twice now and would love ideas on things to do, places to go, etc. Also, shopping....all I've seen there is Giant Eagle.

I figure if you haven't used it in the last year ditch it unless cooking or baking related or kitchen gadgets then you must hoard all you can!!!

When we moved we got a contact for a person who runs a church with her husband. She took LOADS of stuff and said what they couldn't use at the church or sent back home she would do a garage sale with. I was find with that cause there's no way I'm getting up to run a garage sale

A year sounds like a good starting point! In that case everything down there but school books could go. I really don't even know what's down there!

I don't blame you for not wanting to run a garage sale, I sure don't want to!

No need to be sorry. Sadly it was easier than I thought it'd be.

I don't have any kids but I'm hitting up that zoo and aquarium! I'm a sucker for animals.

I've been to the strip district, it was nice to walk through the shops! Clubs and bars aren't my thing. I would like to check out the sports stuff! I'll be like ten minutes from downtown.

It's been about 15 years since I lived in pittsburgh, so I can't offer much help there :(

As for ways to organize stuff not sure if you have Container Store nearby but that store is like heaven to my OCD self. So many pretties. *_*

I feel like Gollum when I go in there lol. "My....preeeciousss."

Good luck in your move! I love all the support and great ideas in this thread! Hope the move goes well OP!
