It has only 35 calories if it's not diet. But way less then if you were to buy soda in the store. Would you still say it's bad to drink even with less calories?

I love it. You don't have to use the soda stream syrups to use it, either. You can put literally anything in the water and it will work. Some things will make it fizz more, but I've used fruit juices, 0/low calorie flavor powders, mio drops, and plain ol' kool-aid.

I have one, but don't really use it anymore since it's difficult to find the flavoring syrups here. Our local Wal-Mart and Staples sells them, but have greatly restricted them so most of the syrups are regular or dark sodas.

We have one and I love it. I don't use the syrups much, don't like the taste. A squeeze of lime or lemon works for me. Wish I knew how to get some minerals in it but it's great for when I don't have the cash for Topo Chico.

Add any kind of rehydration salt or electrolyte mix to your water.. that'll add minerals. For me, if it's a powder, I find it best to add before adding the gas... depending on the powder mix, it might create some foam when you take the bottle off the device.

Keep an eye on the serving size. A can of drink could be 12 oz. A serving of soda stream could be 8 ounces.

That sounds pretty interesting. Seems like it could cut down on the costs of my fizzy drink addiction. :#

So much. The gas is pricey enough as it is where I live.

I use mine just to add sparkle to my water.

Got it just over a year ago when the local soda water went up to $1.50 for a 2L bottle.

The gas refil is $20 and I get the equivalent of 50-55 2L bottles per refil.
That is a saving of $55! It took less than 2 months for it to have paid for itself.

Still haven't used any of the syrups that came with it.

    Cheers, h.

I'm not sure where you got 35 cals from - presumably that's one of the flavours you can add?
I use the soda stream to make sparkling water (0 cals) and then drink it straight or mix it with juice, make lemon, lime and bitters, mis it with line and tequila etc.
There's nothing bad about any of that, I just have to log the cals from mixers. For me it's a treat, usually when we have visitors - my most regular drink is plain water.

All my diet sodas for soda stream are "0 cals"?? Where do you get 35? I like it and I use it a lot.

Hey thanks for this! Never occurred to me before.

Do the liters really stay fizzy? I never buy soda liters because they get flat and icky quickly.

For a while... but you can always add the fizz back in if there's enough liquid in the container.... or just mix up more stuff.
