question about strength training

Hello, I am starting with some simple at home weight training, light weights and body weight. I have read that you can break up your cardio into several sessions throughout the day. Can I do that with strength training? For example a set of reps in the morning and a set in the evening? Or does that defeat the whole point??

There is a method that many people use successfully called greasing the groove (GTG) where you do a little frequently throughout the day. The exact opposite of sweat and puke. Google it.1

I'm not an expert but I work physical jobs and lift at home....while I would expect that you could get stronger over time spreading out your sets, i think your results would be quicker and you'd have much better results if you did all your sets together. Maybe instead of breaking up your sets, try doing all sets of one exercise in one sitting. Then all the sets of your next exercise later on in the day and so on.
