Bloated stomach

How do I get rid of a bloated stomach? I used to have super defined abs a few months ago, but since I'm off birth control, which made me gain a whopping 12 kilograms (about 27 lb) in the first two months, my stomach has ballooned and I want to get rid of it, as I'm too poor to buy new shirts and jeans. I also haven't had my period in four months (the pregnancy test at the gyno was negative) so that might be a factor, but once it comes around, what can I do to make the bloat disappear faster? Are there any speciffic excercises or is it all about nutrition? I eat pretty clean and drink about two liters of water every day and excercise for at least an hour daily, what else can I do?

Polycystic ovarian disease, or other reproductive issues may be leading to bloating and lack of a monthly period....also thyroid issues. I would consider having your doctor run more thorough tests to rule these things out.

Was it a blood test they gyno took or a pee test? You can have a false negative but you cant have a false positive. If you're in fact not pregnant, try taking a colon cleanse for a week or two, that should minimize bloating.

It's all about Nutrition. You can't burn fat in one specific area.

Your body is adjusting to hormones, so you may just have to wait it out. In the meantime, I would keep exercising, do more ab work and lay off the sodium to lessen bloat.

By bloated, do you mean digestive problems? And, no period for 4 months? I don't like doctor visits personally, but you might want one just to see if anything is seriously wrong.
For bloat from bad digestion, I like freshly peeled and grated ginger....a big spoonful or two, and down it goes with a drink of water. It tastes strong, but is super gentle and soothing to the gut.

All good advice above. I would also ad to review your nutrition and eat as much fresh and natural foods and avoid anything processed. Is there a chance you have gluten issues or any food sensitivities? Not necessarily allergies but sometimes even just being sensitive will bring along bloat, etc. Another idea is to lower your carbs, then generally will help with water weight gain. No need to eat zero or too low with carbs, just make sure they come from veggies rather than packaged snack foods, etc.

    Best of luck :)

The gyno took on of those pee tests (I had to wait for 45 minutes or so until I had the results) but I had no bloodwork done so far. I think I will go to the doctor on Monday just to check. I don't really think I'm pregnant. If I were, I would be in my fifth month, and I show no symptoms so far, other than the belly bloat. Anything specific I should look for when I'm having my blood checked?

Also - wow, you guys sure are fast, thanks for all the rreplies! :)

I have no digestive problems at all, it's more like, swollen, I don't know how to put it, English is my third language, sorry for any errors on my part. I should add that I stopped taking birth control in February, then I had to use the morning after pill in March because the condom broke. I had my period after that, but it didn'tt show up in the following months.
However, I'll try out the ginger, sounds like a good idea. :)
