Eating right but too much?

My fitness journey has been on since 2012. I lost weight, toned up and plateaued lately. I've noticed that I am eating the right foods but I eat too much of it. Portion control is not with me and my workouts were getting to be repetitive.

I've change my workouts now to a much more strenuous one. Any one else have an issue with Eating right but too much of it? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Are you logging your food; weighing it or measuring liquids? That's key to portion control.

There really is not a right or wrong to eating. If your goal is to lose weight, then you need to be in a calorie deficit. Decisions in terms of what you eat and how much are the way to generate a deficit.

Eating right is not just about getting enough of everything, it's also not eating too much of anything.

Why are you eating too much? Don't you know how much food is appropriate? Or is it difficult to stop eating?

What is your definition of eating the "right" things?

There are lots of people who eat "healthy" but still gain weight. Portion control is what it's all about.

Good insight from many of you here. I'm always appreciative of people who challenge my thought. The definition of eating right is for me personally. For example rather than eating Chips, chocolate, coated nuts, fried foods etc I have replaced these in the past years with fruit, salads, hummus, almonds (raw). I have had my diet looked at by a nutritionist and I've removed foods that I have reactions to. This is what I felt was eating right for me rather than a formal definition of what's right for everyone.

I do log foods on my phone but have not been weighing it digitally. The goal is to tone further down and I have started to reduce portions and create a deficit now.

I have noticed some bad habits in my eating such as eating too fast, eating seconds or thirds not needing it, drinking too much green tea (6-8 cups a day - my replacement for fizzy drinks and sugary juices I used to drink before).

I'll focus on portion control and measuring better. Much appreciate your time folks.

Deficit doesn't care what you eat.

Portion control is most important when dealing with foods that are calorie dense, like your almonds. A 150 calorie serving of almonds is really small. It's very easy to eat 2 or 3 servings without really thinking about it. I've found with these that I have to be especially diligent about weighing them out and not eating out of a larger bag. Hummus can pack a wallop, too.

Yes to the bolded part. It's how I became overweight in the first place. I do eat junk occasionally, but most of my food/meals would be considered well balanced and healthy. If it weren't for the portion sizes.

Portion control and weighing, as you said!
